Today marks the sixth anniversary of the December 2018 revolution — a defining moment in Sudan’s history when our people stood boldly and resolutely to dismantle tyranny and demand justice, peace, and freedom. This day is not only a commemoration of our collective triumph but also a reminder of the unwavering courage and resilience of the Sudanese people. Our fight is far from over, but our commitment to the vision of a just and equitable Sudan remains unshakable.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the people, embodying the revolutionary spirit of resistance and defiance against oppression. In the face of an aggressive campaign by the terrorist Islamic Movement and the co-opted leadership of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), the RSF continues to champion the will of the people, defending our nation’s hard-won freedoms and the promise of a better future.
As we approach the second year of the devastating war that began on April 15, 2023, Sudan faces an existential crisis that threatens the soul of our nation. The war, ignited by remnants of the former regime and their agents from the so-called “Port Sudan gang,” comprising the SAF leadership and their jihadist brethren from the terrorist Islamic Movement, has plunged the country into unimaginable suffering. Thousands of lives have been lost, millions displaced, and our country's infrastructure devastated.
These forces of regression and destruction seek to dismantle the social fabric of our nation, stoking division and animosity to derail our march toward peace and democracy. Their actions are a calculated assault on the unity and identity of Sudan — a continuation of the same tyranny the December revolution rose to abolish.
The RSF has remained steadfast in its role as a protector of the people’s democratic revolution, standing firm against attempts to reignite the flames of oppression. Our resolve has not wavered in the face of relentless schemes to pit us against the revolutionary street. On this significant anniversary, we renew our call to all revolutionary forces — resistance committees, professionals, civil society organizations, and political entities — to unite in defense of our nation.
We must recognize that the Port Sudan gang and their jihadist and foreign backers are not merely obstacles to progress but threats to the very existence of Sudan as a free and sovereign nation. This is a pivotal moment in our history — one that demands vigilance, solidarity, and collective action.
The RSF understands the gravity of its mission to uphold the democratic aspirations of the Sudanese people. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the revolutionary cause, to the pursuit of justice, and to the establishment of a renewed Sudan built on the principles of fairness, equality, rule of law, and inclusion.
History will not forget the sacrifices of the RSF and the Sudanese people, who, for more than three decades, have stood resolute against corruption, terrorism, and tyranny. Together, we will bring an end to this war, rebuild a stronger Sudan, and ensure that no community is left behind or marginalized.
On this momentous day, we call on every Sudanese citizen to rise with courage and conviction. Let us honor the legacy of the December revolution not just in words, but in action. United, we will reclaim our nation and fulfill its promise of freedom, justice, and peace for all.
Together, we will not falter. We will not yield. We will fight for Sudan and our people. Together, we will prevail.
